Counting Birds For Audubon

Headed out to Moses Pier in Gulfport for a preview of what counting birds will be like. Joined the Audubon Coastal Bird Survey team this week and will soon be counting birds as part of the spring survey. Oh yeah, this won't be an easy task!

Sunsets and Photoshop

Sunsets and Photoshop were made for each other. Just having some fun with a more abstract look in this series.

Wait. Hold on. Do you see it? Are you seeing what I'm seeing? (to be continued)
Bah - trees aren't working, can't get to the lighthouse, mud everywhere, even the sky is looking like a dud. Starting to lose my patience with this project.
Good grief. A thousand leaning-tree pics later i turn my attention to the lighthouse. Pretty much the reason for being here in the first place and ... what? I can't even get over there! The bridge is out. (looking around for something or someone to kick)
Hmmm ... potential? Naaahhh - I hate the leaning trees!
By now I've walked close to a mile back and forth trying to use the trees, trying not to step in the mud (I'm wearing sandals) and thinking I might have to call it a night.
Ok - framing the sunset with a few palm trees. Eeesh ... this is pretty sad. Don't think this is going to work, and what's up with the leaning trees anyway?
Then I get a call from the casting director that he hired a location scout so I can take the night off. Just need to be in a meeting 9 am tomorrow to transition what I already have to the new guy. Great, now how about those sunset pics. Well here's the deal - I don't want to start driving again because it could take 30 minutes just to search for another spot and that's enough to miss a greet shot so instead I'm looking for a way to improve this setting ... hmmm, some trees behind me might make for some good silhouette shots.
Walking to the water's edge I'm thinking this might be a bust as far as a a sunset photo op is concerned. Yes it's pretty but I've already taken a thousand other pics just like this one.
Now I like lighthouses and even though this one is puny by traditional lighthouse standards (sorry Biloxi but it's true) we need one and it's close by so the budget won't suffer and maybe we can green-screen this baby and make it look much bigger in the scene.
OK, so I'm hanging out at the coast this afternoon ... wait, I do that most every afternoon. I think this story needs a better intro. This afternoon I was scoping out new locations for my next film (much better). Anyway, this scene in the distance caught my eye so while scouting a scene for the movie I decided to stick around and grab a few pics, and see if something interesting in the way of a sunset was coming
